Hi, there! Como já sabemos, os phrasal verbs fazem parte de um inglês fluente. Hoje vamos ver os que são usados com o verbo make. São poucos, mas são importantes porque são muito utilizados no dia-a-dia.
make for - go in the direction of
If the alarm goes off, make for the nearest exit.
make... into - transform
They've made the old theater into a disco.
make off - run away, escape
The gang made off down the road with the money.
make off with... - steal and escape with
The thief made off with all the money in my purse.
make out:
a. kiss passionately - Paul and Claire were making out in the movie theater.
b. pretend - The foreigners made out that they couldn't understand us.
c. manage to see or hear clearly - It was dark so I couldn't make out the numbers of the houses.
d. progress - How are you making out your guitar classes?
e. succeed - Business made out better than expected last year.
make out with - The act of kissing fervently, (i.e. frenching) while also engaging in various acts of rubbing, touching, and optional groping. (pegação) - I used to make out with Ellen.
make up your mind - decide
I've made up my mind to buy a new car.
make up -
a. invent (a story; an excuse)
When I didn't want to go to work, I decided to make up an excuse, so I told them that my dog died.
You can’t believe anything he says. He is always making up stories.
b.become friends again after an argument
Tom and Susan have finally made up after their argument.
make up for - compensate for
Tim bought her some flowers to make up for arriving late.
